Main aims of rehabilitation

• to mitigate the effects of muscle tension disorders

• to maintain physiological movement within the joints of the paralysed extremity in order to
   prevent deformity

• to improve breathing and circulation

• to mobilise patients as soon as possible to perform basic exercises
   Aim: to assume sitting and standing positions, to walk; to prevent the decline of physical
   capabilities; soonest possible mobilisation to enable the patient to perform active movements
   with the paralysed extremity; to restore torso control and develop a balanced sitting position;
   to teach controlled falling
